Group projects are the absolute worst.
I’m working on a research project proposal with 7 other people and we were supposed to meet at 5 this evening. By 5:30, four of us had shown up.
Someone in my group: “Yeah, [this other girl] isn’t coming to the meeting tonight. She didn’t feel like it.”
Somone else: “[Some guy] isn’t coming either because he’s ‘sick’ and [different dude] thought the meeting was at 6 so he’ll be late. I don’t know why [third dude] hasn’t shown up yet.”
7:30 rolls around and the four of us have the entire project planned out. No one else showed up.

I just got this email from a potential student:
“gr 12 chemistry and biology questions. I have an exam coming up soon, my teacher gave me a practice exam for both courses. Id like for you to do the questions for me so I have answers to refer to when Im doing it myself. call me asapp”
I really want to tell her to go fuck herself. I’m not here to make an answer key for you to study off. If I was that desperate for cash I would look into stripping.
I feel like I’ve learned a lot about being a better anti-racist watching this White Woman’s Tears: SWNYC Edition shit play out on my dash. Just wanted to thank all y’all for being so vocal and amazing.
I have an appointment tomorrow to see if I could benefit from cognitive behavioural therapy for anxiety. I’m excited and terrified. I’ve had anxiety issues my entire life, it would be a huge relief to not be afraid of checking my email or hanging out with casual acquaintances or having panic attacks over homework.
Plant RNAs Found in mammals … you are what you eat, apparently?
MicroRNA (miRNAs) are small molecules of RNA that affect everything from viral infection to gene expression levels. They are an ancient and unique way to control how other nucleic acids behave in cells.
It now appears that miRNAs from plants can cross over into their mammalian consumers, ending up in their cells. They might even inhibit some of the plant-eater’s genes, as was seen for a rice miRNA and a low-density lipoprotein-related gene.
A very surprising discovery, for sure, but more work will have to be done to figure out if these miRNAs actually have a function in the cells of their consumers.
